We are located on the north shore of beautiful Lake Gaston, just 5 miles east of the I-85 exit #4. Just look for us on the right side of Rt. 903. Our address is: 9 Lakeside Lane, Bracey, Va. 23919. Lake Gaston Americamps is a family owned and family oriented campground with planned activities.
Americamps is located on Lake Gaston, one of the truly most outstanding lakes in the country. It has over 20,000 acres of "high quality" water, 34 miles long, and approximately one and one half miles wide at the lower end of the lake. It has over 350 miles of shoreline.
Lake Gaston is well stocked with game fish including striped bass or rockfish, largemouth bass, crappie, sunfish, and several varieties of catfish. Other species of fish sometimes caught are walleye, yellow perch, and chain pickerel.
Fishing licenses are required. A valid license for Virginia or North Carolina permits fishing in "the lake" in either state, from boats or shore, in waters accessible by boat. No license is required for those under 16 years of age.
More Info:- We have large, level full hook-up pull thrus and waterfront sites. Waterfront sites do not have sewer access. Cabin rentals are available for those who require them.
- We have live entertainment performing most weekends throughout the summer. We offer crafts, games, tournaments and treats for the children of all ages.
- We offer a well stocked convenience store in addition to RV supplies, accessories, and propane.
- No one is allowed to come in and look around at the campground on holiday weekends.

BOOK EXCHANGE - We offer our guests an opportunity to participate in a book exchange. This is located in both laundry rooms. Feel free to come take a book or leave books.
FISHING - Fishing is wonderful on Lake Gaston. People have been known to catch bass, catfish, brim, pike, gar, walleye, crappie, and many others. A fishing license is required to fish on this lake. Fishing is allowed off our large pier and the shoreline. Please stay off of private docks. We sell night crawlers & chicken livers with a variety of other fishing tackle, along with children's rods in the store. 35-miles of shoreline.
CONVENIENCE STORE - We have a large selection of groceries, picnic supplies, ice, cold drinks, novelty ice cream items and pints, RV supplies, gifts, pool supplies, firewood & propane, frozen foods, toys.
COFFEE - Come enjoy one free cup of coffee on us (additional available for sale) ...available in the store everyday from 9am till 10am.
LAUNDRY - Laundry facilities are located directly behind each bath house. The washers & dryers each take $1.50. Change is provided in store. The laundry rooms are open 24 hours.
BOATS - Please be advised we do not have docks available for rent (the ones on campus are privately owned). You may tie up to the shoreline located near the swimming pool.
PLAYGROUND - An enjoyable place for children to play.
SPORTS - We have horseshoes, volleyball, basketball, soccer, baseball & badminton areas. Equipment is available for our guests at the store.
SWIMMING POOL - We have a beautiful swimming pool available. Children under the age of 14 must have adult supervision, and food, drinks or smoking is not allowed in the pool area. We have sunscreen, goggles, earplugs & floats available for sale in the store.
PUTT PUTT - Located near the pool, cost is $5.00 per person (5 years and under, free) - cash only. Clubs, balls & score cards available in store. Putt Putt is open during store hours only.
FIREWOOD - Available for sale in store for $7.50 a bundle.
PROPANE - We offer propane tank exchange and propane refill. See store for prices.
RESTAURANTS - There are a variety of restaurants around the lake: Huddle House, Watersview, The Pointe, Shady Shack, El Huasteco, and Lickety Split (ice cream - seasonal). Ask for directions in the store.
LOCAL ATTRACTIONS - We have Rosemont Vineyards, which offers wine tastings nearby. See store for brochures and directions. The historic depot in South Hill houses the Virginia S Evans Doll and Model Train Museum. South Hill also boasts the Tobacco Farm Life Museum of Virginia, The Colonial Center, and the Tobacco Heritage Trail.
