We want to thank everyone who has supported the raffles the Amvets have had at our campground. The Amvet post 101 of Halifax County, NC serve the Wounded Warriors, Wreaths across America, VA benefits for all veterans, and send packages to the troops. The raffles they hold here on our holiday weekends help to fund these programs and pay for the postage for the packages sent overseas. The raffles are on holiday weekends and drawings are held exclusively for our campers. The proceeds from Memorial Day and Labor Day all go to the Amvet post and the 4th of July drawing proceeds go to the Ladies Auxiliary. The Ladies Auxiliary focus on the families of the veterans. Their job is to complete the circle and help the veterans on the homeland as well as sending the boxes overseas. The Ladies Auxiliary also supports St. Judes Hospital, Ronald McDonald House, P.A.W.S. with a cause, John Tracy clinic, V.A. Hospital in Durham, Nursing Homes, Woman's Veterans, Homeless Shelters, School Programs, Donations to Libraries & Scholarship programs.

This year we would definitely like for the Amvets to raise more money. We made our goals last year:

   Memorial Day  - $1600.00

   4th of July - $1800.00

   Labor Day - $2000.00

Lets help them raise even more for the 2011 drawings!

We are going to have boxes here this year on the 4th of July holiday that campers can actually be part of putting them together. Bring your addresses of family members or friends that are overseas and you can send a box from here to them. We are also going to make it a kid's activity as well. All the supplies will be here to stuff the boxes. The campground has now started collecting item donations for the boxes and you can bring them anytime you camp. Here are examples of what we need to pack the boxes for our troops:

cookies, crackers, candy, gum, no chocolate, Little Debbie cakes, CD's, DVD's, phone cards, playing cards, letter writing paper, toiletries, soaps, shampoos, wipes, lotions, & chapsticks.

Any article you wish to donate must be non perishable. No Alcohol, Tobacco or religious material is allowed to be sent over there. The AMvets & Ladies Auxiliary  want to thank everyone that supports them. They would not be able to accomplish what they do without your help!
